Anchor Institution Framework
Anchor institutions are usually large organisations rooted in and connected to their local communities. They can improve health through their influence on local social and economic conditions by adapting the way they employ people, purchase goods and services, use buildings and spaces, reduce environmental impact, and work in partnership.
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has collaborated with our communities, our fellow NHS partners, VCFSE organisations, academia, and public and private sector bodies to create an Anchor Institute Charter. We continue to expand our Anchor network, working closely with Charter signatories and communities to reduce inequalities, create opportunities and promote health and wellbeing.
