Mike Burrows
Originally a Doctor of Biochemistry, Mike worked in the NHS for 37 years both in the finance discipline and general management.
From May 2004 until May 2011 he was Chief Executive of Salford Teaching Primary Care Trust before becoming the Area Director for Greater Manchester. His final role in the NHS was the National Director for the AHSN Network.
He has held a number of Board roles including sitting on the Council of the University of Salford where he was the acting Chair for a year. Currently he is the vice chair of Fusion21, a not for profit company involved in housing supply chain management. He also chairs the Bury GP Federation.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Salford in 2021.
He has an active interest in the use of evidence based medicine and a passionate believer of the benefits of strong ties between the NHS and academia and has championed the role of Primary Care throughout his career in the NHS.
