NHS Cheshire and Merseyside secures Silver Social Value Award for Health
Tuesday, 26 August 2025

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board (ICB) has been awarded the prestigious Silver Social Value Quality Mark® for Health, recognising its commitment to embedding social value across health and care services for local people and communities.
The award highlights the ICB’s efforts to create a positive impact beyond healthcare, including tackling health inequalities, supporting local employment and skills, improving community wellbeing, enhancing staff welfare, and addressing climate change.
The Social Value Quality Mark® is a nationally recognised accreditation that rigorously evaluates organisations against a wide range of criteria. Achieving Silver status demonstrates that NHS Cheshire and Merseyside is not only measuring and reporting on its social value, but is also delivering innovation and leadership across the system.
Dave Sweeney, Associate Director of Partnership and Sustainability for NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for our organisation and reflects the hard work of the Sustainability Team and system partners. Embedding social value is integral to how we improve health outcomes, reduce inequalities, and build a more sustainable future for the people of Cheshire and Merseyside.”
The submission was coordinated by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside’s Sustainability Team, who compiled the evidence and represented the organisation throughout the rigorous assessment process.
This award builds on ICB’s ongoing work with local partners to strengthen community wellbeing, reduce its environmental impact, and maximise opportunities for social and economic benefit across the region.
