Cheshire and Merseyside NHS organisations have gained further recognition with wins at the HSJ Awards 2024.

The region had 19 finalists, with three winners being announced at the London event on 21 November. The awards are a celebration of success and sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and celebrating innovation.

Winners included: 

  • Workforce Initiative of the Year – awarded to Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance for their work on The Supportive Assistive Programme. HSJ 22/11/24

Cheshire and Merseyside’s Supportive and Assistive Programme – Supporting the Current and Future Cancer Workforce Through the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development (ACCEND) was created to develop a framework to include training and education to support a career pathway for the cancer support workforce. 

  • Driving Efficiency through Technology Award - awarded to Liverpool Women’s Foundation Trust for their Hewitt Centre’s Fertility Patient Portal. HSJ 22/11/24

The Liverpool Women’s Hewitt Centre’s Fertility Patient Portal transforms fertility care by providing patients with real-time access to their treatment information, appointments and personalised support resources. This digital transformation has enhanced patient engagement, reduced wait times and streamlined staff workflows, resulting in a 30% increase in patient satisfaction and significant operational efficiencies. 

  • Staff Wellbeing Award – awarded to Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust for the creation of ‘Scouse School’. HSJ 22/11/24

Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust’s Scouse School helps internationally recruited healthcare professionals to settle into their new surroundings and manage the challenges that come with moving to a new country.

Mid Cheshire Foundation Trust also received a High Commendation in Medicines, Pharmacy and Prescribing Initiative of the Year for their work in removing modified release opioids from elective orthopaedic enhanced recovery protocols.
